- Never drag an animal you intend to have mounted
- Never cut the throat of the animal that you intend to have mounted
- For shoulder mounting, be sure to cut the cape behind the shoulders
- After field dressing, cool the animal down as soon as possible
- Always keep the animal as clean as possible
- If necessary, wash with water and dry
- Never place the cape in a plastic bag while it is hot or wet
- During transport, keep the animal as cold as possible
- NEVER leave it out in the heat
